TS-PRO: AROMA AND MEMORY
Every wonder why aromatics are so beneficial in a spa setting?
Our sense of smell is closely connected to our ability to remember and recall memories. This is because the part of the brain responsible for processing smells, the olfactory bulb, is closely connected to the limbic system, which is responsible for our emotions, memory formation and recall.
When an aroma is inhaled, the molecules bind to receptors in the nose, which send signals to the olfactory bulb in the brain. The olfactory bulb then sends signals to different parts of the brain, including the limbic system, which is responsible for regulating emotions and memories. This is why certain smells can evoke powerful memories and emotions.
For example, the smell of freshly baked cookies may remind you of your childhood, or the smell of a certain perfume may remind you of a past friend or loved one.
For me, itβs the aroma of Myrtle, it immediately transports me to the home where my grandmother lived and the feelings and emotions I felt as a child visiting her.

It's important to note that while aromatherapy is considered generally safe and beneficial, some essential oils can be toxic if used in high concentrations or ingested, so it's important to consult with an aromatherapy practitioner or health care professional before using them.
